Placer County Sheriff's deputies said they are searching for three people who shot at a US Forest Service employee.
The shooting was reported near the Sugar Pine Reservoir, about nine miles north of Foresthill.
The employee was hanging fire prevention signs at the time of the shooting.
He was not injured in the shooting.
Officials said there's no information on the identity of the suspects.
The investigation is ongoing.
