A Philadelphia firefighter is in critical condition after being struck by a ladder truck at the scene of a fire.
A Philadelphia firefighter is in critical condition after being struck by a ladder truck at the scene of a fire early this morning, according to WPVI-TV.

The incident occurred at about 5:25 a.m. after crews arrived at the Abbey House Apartments on the 400 block of Domino Lane in Roxborough.

The 45-year-old firefighter was transported to Einstein Medical Center and is being treated for serious head and internal injuries, investigators told the station.

The firefighter is in critical, but stable condition, Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers said.

Crews battled flames shooting from the second and third floors and used ladder to rescue residents from the fire.

About 100 people were displaced and one person was treated for smoke inhalation, according to the report.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
