WYOMING, Ohio --
Fire crews were called to put out a fire on a train in the city of Wyoming early Sunday morning.
Flames broke out at about 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of Durrell and South Grove avenues, fire crews said.
Firefighters said the train's crew were able to get off the train safely and bring it to a stop.
Crews were concerned because they thought the train might have been carrying potentially hazardous material. Crews continuously put water and foam on the train to put out the flames. The fire was put out at about 7 a.m.
Later on, officials said they determined the train was not carrying anything hazardous.
Several train crossings were closed because the train extended a long distance. Firefighters said it would take several hours before the train would move.
No injuries were reported at the scene.
Norfolk Southern said it switched all its rail traffic to the east side tracks and trains would be traveling at restricted speeds through the affected areas.
Crews said they weren't sure when they'd be able to get the train moving.
Fire crews said it was the third locomotive fire in the area in a little more than a year.
Investigators said a cause has not been determined, but they speculated that it could have been due to an overload in an electrical system.
