RAYTOWN, Mo. -- A Kansas City, Mo., firefighter was injured early Friday while offering mutual aid battling a house fire in Raytown. The fire occurred shortly before 4:30 a.m. at 8956 E. 83rd Terr. Raytown and Kansas City, Mo., fire crews said smoke was showing from the home as both departments responded to the scene. The firefighter was injured when he fell through a floor. He suffered a knee injury and was taken to an area hospital, but his condition is unknown.

The fire occurred shortly before 4:30 a.m. at 8956 E. 83rd Terr.

Raytown and Kansas City, Mo., fire crews said smoke was showing from the home as both departments responded to the scene.

The firefighter was injured when he fell through a floor. He suffered a knee injury and was taken to an area hospital, but his condition is unknown.

The fire, which is under investigation by the Raytown Fire Department, caused extensive damage to the home. The fire may have started on the first floor or in the basement, fire crews said. The residents of the house where not at home at the time of the fire.
