Indy Firefighter Seriously Hurt by Exploding Hose

An Indianapolis firefighter was seriously injured yesterday afternoon after a high-pressure hose exploded while he was setting up a training exercise.

An Indianapolis firefighter was seriously injured yesterday afternoon after a high-pressure hose exploded while he was setting up a training exercise, according to The Indianapolis Star.

Capt. Willie Thompson was filling the hose with air when the system exploded in his right hand, department spokeswoman Rita Burris told the newspaper.

Thompsonwas transported to St. Vincent Hospital and was listed in stable condition.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:35 p.m. at the department's training facility near 16th Street and Arlington Avenue.
