MILFORD, Conn.

Several cars on a tractor-trailer car carrier were burned when the truck caught fire on Interstate 95 in Milford Monday morning.
The fire was reported just after 6:30 a.m. between exits 39 and 40.
Some of the cars on the carrier appeared to be high-end vehicles, including a Mercedes.
Milford firefighters said one of the car carrier's wheels caught fire and the rubber was quickly consumed by flames. They said the flames rose and attacked the luxury cars. The car carrier's driver told officials that he heard a pop before the fire and they believe the fire is the result of a mechanical problem.
The incident forced officials to close the right and center lanes of the roadway for several hours.
