CANTON, Ga. --
An early Saturday morning fire destroyed three businesses in downtown Canton.
"It's just totally destroyed," said John Fincher, owner of an art gallery that was destroyed.
Cherokee fire officials said someone spotted smoke coming out of an attorney's office around 2:00 a.m. By the time fire fighters arrived, the building was fully engulfed. It took fire fighters more than eight hours to put out the flames.
It had the area shut down as fire fighters battled the fire.
"It's going to be a major loss. It's devastating, to say the least," Fincher said.
The building was once a popular drugstore with a soda fountain and coffee shop. Fincher's grandfather bought the Darnell building in 1930.
Investigators are still trying to figure out how the blaze started.
