PITTSBURGH --
A firefighter and two other people were injured in a fire in Highland Park Sunday afternoon.
The fire broke out around 3:30 p.m. on Wellsley Avenue in Highland Park.
Neighbors reported seeing large flames and heavy smoke coming from the second floor.
Two homeowners, an elderly man and woman, suffered injuries from smoke inhalation.
Officials said the man made an attempt to put out the fire himself before finally evacuating.
Additionally, a firefighter injured his foot while trying to extinguish the blaze.
The cause of the fire has not yet been announced.
