According to Captain of the Clay County Rescue Squad Butch Burnette, two firemen were injured in the fire.

One fireman suffered from smoke inhalation; the other, debris fell on him.

Since the building destroyed was city hall, many records were destroyed in the fire.

"One of the secretaries talking earlier that in the attic of the building was all the old records dating, you know, 50, 60 years back and then, of course, everything downstairs was totally destroyed," Burnette said.
