Fla. Firefighter Injured Battling Condominium Blaze

It took firefighters a little more than an hour to extinguish a two-alarm blaze at a condominium complex late Monday afternoon. The alarm came in at 4:34 p.m. at the Top of the World complex at 2427 Rhodesian Dr., authorities with Clearwater Fire and Rescue said. The firefighters fought flames in a second-floor condominium in a three-story building. In an hour, the fire was out, but firefighters remained on the scene to make sure the building was safe.

The alarm came in at 4:34 p.m. at the Top of the World complex at 2427 Rhodesian Dr., authorities with Clearwater Fire and Rescue said.

The firefighters fought flames in a second-floor condominium in a three-story building. In an hour, the fire was out, but firefighters remained on the scene to make sure the building was safe.

Firefighters said one unit was gutted and several others had smoke and water damage.

The building did not have a sprinkler system, firefighters said.

One firefighter was injured and he was taken to a hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

The American Red Cross had been called to help find lodging for the displaced residents, firefighters said.
