A Detroit firefighter fell into the basement of a vacant home during an arson fire early Wednesday morning, but wasn't seriously injured.

The incident occurred after a stairway that the unidentified firefighter from the 7th Battalion was on collapsed, according to The Detroit Free Press.

Detroit Fire Arson Unit Lt. Dennis Richardson said that the firefighter refused treatment at the scene.

Crews responded to the fire that was just one of two set in the same block hours apart. The blaze that injured the firefighter occurred in the 4000 block of Daniels around 4:30 a.m. while the previous fire occurred around 1 a.m. inside a garage.

Investigators hope residents will come forward with information on who set the fires.
