A Chicago firefighter suffered minor injuries Monday morning while battling an extra-alarm blaze on the city's Southeast Side.

The unnamed firefighter suffered minor cuts on his hands during a partial collapse at the 2-1/2 story frame house in the 8600 block of South Escanaba Avenue, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

The fire, first called just after 2:30 a.m., was elevated to a 2-11 alarm, was extinguished less than an hour later, officials said.

The firefighter was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital for treatment.
