New Jersey Firefighter Injured After Landing Collapses

East Orange Captain John Anderson fell from a landing through one floor before ending up on the bottom floor, fracturing his femur, hip and left leg while battling a house fire Wednesday night.

An East Orange firefighter was injured after he fell from the landing of a burning home Wednesday night.

Captain John Anderson was on the top floor the 2 1/2-story home at 12 Hawthorne Avenue around 8 p.m. when he fell from a landing through one floor before ending up on the bottom floor, according to WABC-TV.

A Mayday was sounded and firefighters were able to get him out to safety.

The 24-year veteran sustained fractures to his femur, hip and left leg and was transported to University Hospital in Newark.

He is expected to make a full recovery, officials told the news station.
