Six firefighters were injured while battling a five-alarm blaze at a mill in Charlton Thursday night.
About 75 firefighters from 20 towns responded to the former Charlton Woolen Mill and a lack of municipal water supply in the area required officials to activate a "strike team" for tankers, according to The Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
The injured firefighters were transported to area hospitals for treatment of injures and have since been released.
Charlton Assistant Fire Chief Curtis Meskus told the newspaper that the initial call came from a pizza shot across the street around 9 p.m.
The decision was made early to let the structure burn and the priority became to protect the surrounding buildings.
About a dozen explosions could be heard coming from the mill as flames shot from the building for more than two hours.
Old propane tanks are believed to be the source of the explosions and the cause of the fire itself is under investigation.
