WILKES-BARRE, Pa. -- A city firefighter was injured while battling a blaze at 134 Dana St. Thursday morning.
Fire Chief Jay Delaney said firefighters responded to the house that has two apartments just before 5 a.m. and found heavy fire on the first floor.
The house is for sale by McDermott and McDermott real estate.
Delaney said occupants of the second floor apartment escaped. There was furniture on the first floor but no one was found inside, Delaney said.
"The crew made a good interior attack knocking the fire down quickly," Delaney said.
Delaney said the firefighter was injured inside the residence while the blaze was being extinguished. He did not know the extent of his injuries.
The name of the injured firefighter was not released.
Firefighters cleared the scene at about 7 a.m.
