A Corpus Christi battalion chief burned while battling a commercial fire in Robstown earlier this month was released from the hospital on Friday.
Battalion Chief J.D. Johnson was sent home from the burn unit at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio after spending most of the month there following the blaze on Aug. 9, according to The Corpus Christi Caller.
The 18-year veteran of the departemnt was burned on about 15 percent of his body and will now undergo physical therapy for his hands.
A partial roof collapse at the fire at a gymnastics studio on Robstown's Main Street sent flames out the rear of the structure, burning Johnson and three other firefighters who were staging equipment.
