San Antonio Firefighter Hit While Guiding Rig Into Station

Firefighter Marc Eric Hitchcock was guiding the rig into Station 6 when he was hit by an SUV.

A San Antonio firefighter was struck by an SUV Thursday morning as helped back a fire apparatus into a station.

Firefighter Marc Eric Hitchcock was guiding the rig into Station 6 at 503 West Russell Place around 8 a.m. when he was hit, according to The San Antonio Express-News.

Clark Anthony Medina, the driver of the SUV told police that he couldn't see the 32-year-old firefighter because the sun was blocking his vision.

Police said Medina stopped to render aid to the firefighter.

Officials told the newspaper that Hitchcock sustained a cut on his head, but was not seriously injured.

He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
