A South Metro firefighter is back at work after suffering a heart attack at his fire station earlier this year.
Firefighter Nick Gravina was on the job at his firehouse in Parker in May when he felt what he thought was bad indigestion after eating following a physical fitness test, according to KUSA-TV.
"It just was like this stabbing knife right in my chest and I couldn't get it to go away," he told the news station. "I just took some antacids and it just wasn't helping."
His colleagues hooked him up to an AED and administered CPR for over an hour before transporting him to a local hospital where a large blood clot was removed from his heart.
Gravina was physically fit and wasn't in a high-risk category, but said it could happen to anyone.
"I was thinking about lying down and taking a nap to try and rest it off and if I would have done that I probably wouldn't be here."
