Chicago Firefighters Call MAYDAY After Roof Collapse

All firefighters were accounted for after a roof collapse at a South Chicago house fire as they battled an attic fire.

Aug. 24--Chicago firefighters issued a mayday after a roof collapsed during a fire in the South Chicago neighborhood, officials said.

The fire on the 8000 block of South Marquette Road was reported at about 6:30 p.m., according to Chicago Fire Department officials.

Firefighters were battling the fire in the attic of the two-story brick structure when the roof collapsed, officials said.

After the collapse, officials called for an emergency medical services plan 1 response which called for multiple ambulances to be respond, officials said.

Officials later noted that all firefighters were accounted for and was secured.
