Calif. Firefighter Shot Responding to Medical Alert Call

A Fresno firefighter is expected to be OK after he was shot entering a home through a window to answer a medical alert call.

 A Fresno firefighter was shot early Thursday morning while trying to gain access to a home for a medical alert call.

Firefighters were dispatched to a home on Cleo Avenue at about 4 a.m., according to a report published by local television station KMPH Fox 26.

The firefighters rang the doorbell and knocked, but no one responded. That’s when they decided to enter the home through a window, according to the television station.

A firefighter was grazed by a bullet from a shot fired by someone inside the home.

The injured firefighter is expected to be OK, but he was transported to a hospital as a precaution.

The incident is under investigation by the Fresno Police Department.
