Oct. 06--One person and three firefighters were injured in an early morning blaze that broke out on the South Side in the city's Englewood neighborhood.
Shortly after 5:30 a.m., firefighters were called to the scene of a blaze that started in the basement of a 1 and 1/2 story frame house located on the 6700 block of South Emerald Avenue, according to Fire Media.
One person was taken in fair-to-serious condition to the University of Chicago Hospital. Three firefighters also suffered injuries in the blaze. Two of those firefighters were taken in fair-to-serious condition to St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center. The other firefighter who was also listed in fair-to-serious condition, was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital for treatment.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
