S.C. Firefighter Revived at Fire Scene Recovering

An AED was used in the effort at the grassfire in Darlington County.

Nov. 21--DARLINGTON, S.C. -- A Darlington County Fire District firefighter is in stable condition after he passed out while fighting a grass fire on Green Street Road, Wednesday morning around 11:30, according to Darlington County Fire District Chief Kenny Stratton.

Stratton said the firefighter, whom he declined to name, was in full cardiac arrest when other firefighters on scene administered CPR and used an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to help him regain consciousness.

He remains in the hospital where he continues to be evaluated.

The fire is under control and the cause of it is under investigation.
