A Nebraska firefighter died of injuries sustained in a crash while responding to a call.

Darrell Parker, 56, a Fairbury Rural FD firefighter, died Wednesday in a Lincoln Hospital, three days after the wreck.

Police told reporters Parker was headed to a fire when his pickup left a roadway, went into a pasture and struck a tree.

Fairbury Police Chief Chad Sprunk says it's suspected that Parker suffered a medical problem before the crash.
