Mom Drops Unwanted Kids with Suitcases at Houston Firehouse

Sept. 8, 2015
The two-year-old and nine-month-old were treated with snacks and water.

Houston firefighters had to call for help after a woman dropped her children off at a fire station, saying neither she nor their father wanted them.

The woman wanted to leave suitcases for the 2-year-old and 9-month-old boys

Firefighters also summoned child protective services to Fire Station 73, according to local television station KTRK. The crew treated the boys to water and snacks.

Police found the mother and are working with her.

The Baby Moses law in Texas, known as Safe Haven in other regions, allows parents to leave babies 60 days old or younger at fire or EMS stations and hospitals. The person must tell an emergency worker saying they want to leave the child at a Safe Haven.
