An Ohio firefighter died early Monday after falling through a floor into the basement of a house.
“This is a very tragic situation and everyone should keep the family of the firefighter and the firefighter in their prayers and their hearts,” Hamilton Chief Steve Dawson told reporters.
Dawson said Patrick Wolterman called 'Mayday,' and colleagues rushed to extricate him. He was rushed to Fort Hamilton Hospital where he died.
The residents were not home when the fire broke out. However, an early report indicated someone may have been inside, reports indicated.
Wolterman was hired earlier this year.
The incident remains under investigation.
