A NC firefighter died last month of an apparent stroke.
Hugo Firefighter Prentice 'Jay' Tyndall, 45, drove the engine to a mutual aid call about 10 p.m. May 8.
The following day about noon, he complained of a severe head pain. He went into a business he was visiting and asked workers to call 911.
He was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital where they discovered a brain bleed. He was flown to Vidant Medical in Greenville, NC
A procedure was done to relieve pressure on his brain. He was then flown to Duke University for further treatment. At Duke, surgery was performed in attempt to stop the bleed, but despite all efforts, Tyndall died on May 12.
