PA Firefighter Hit, Killed by Backing Tanker

Hilltop Firefighter Donald Ishman was hit as the rig was being backed into the station.

KANE -- A 60-year-old man died after he was struck by a vehicle being backed into a McKean County volunteer fire department garage.

Donald Ishman of Cyclone was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at the Hilltop Volunteer Fire Department on Route 646 in Keating Township, state police at Kane said.

Police said Ishman was struck Saturday at 1:45 p.m. by a 2008 Peterbilt tanker as it was being backed into a garage bay of the fire department. A police investigation determined the incident was accidental and no charges will be filed, police said.

Funeral services

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mascho Funeral Home Inc.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Frank Eppley, retired pastor of Grace Chapel Full Gospel Church, Farmers Valley, and the Rev. Max Simms, pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, co-officiating.

Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette.
