La. Firefighter Shot When Colleague's Gun Discharges

A Louisiana firefighter involved in flood rescues in Baton Rouge was accidentally shot when another firefighter's gun discharged.

The injured firefighter underwent surgery and is expected to survive, a family member told KSLA.

The bullet first hit the boat, and then the firefighter, according to Lt. Bill Davis, of the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office.

Both firefighters involved are members of the Bossier Parish Water and Technical Emergency Rescue team, which includes firefighters from the Bienville Parish Fire District, the station reported.
