Police allege a 25-year-old man assaulted a Wichita firefighter and police officer Sunday evening at a police and fire station in west Wichita.
Wichita police said in a report Monday that the man drove erratically into the parking lot of the Patrol West substation and Fire Station No. 8 at 661 N. Elder, nearly striking a Wichita firefighter and another man whom police identified as a 31-year-old male.
Police said the driver then “jumped out of his car” and began fighting with the firefighter and man.
The report said a police sergeant was summoned to the parking lot “and the suspect pushed the Sergeant in the chest and threatened him.”
The police officer, firefighter and suspect received minor injuries in the scuffle, police said.
Police said the suspect was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of criminal threats, terrorism, battery of a law enforcement officer, battery of a fireman and criminal damage.
Booking records show Mohammad Faleh Alashqar was booked on similar charges at the North Elder address on Sunday.
Police and the U.S. Attorney’s Office did not respond to requests Monday for more information on the terrorism charge.
