TX Firefighter Killed in Head-on Crash Involving Engine, Rig

A head-on crash between a water hauling rig and a fire engine left a Texas firefighter dead.

Wink Firefighter Colby Slaughter, 36, was killed while a passenger suffered severe injuries, according to Newswest8. 

The rig driver was attempting to pass traffic when it struck the fire engine head-on, the station reported.

Slaughter was en route to a tank battery fire when the crash occurred.

A firefighter in the engine and the rig driver were transported to a hospital for treatment.

The investigation of the Wednesday evening wreck is continuing.
