WI Firefighter Stricken at Crash Scene Dies

John C. Brocker, 65, responded with the Town of Oneida VFD to a car crash when he was stricken.

A 65-year-old firefighter collapsed at the scene of a fatal crash in De Pere Monday.

John C. Brocker volunteered with the Town of Oneida Volunteer Fire Department for 14 years.

He responded to a crash involving an SUV that struck a utility pole on Bane Road around 10 p.m., according to Fox11Online.com.

Brocker told the chief he was having chest pains and he was given oxygen, according to the U.S. Fire Administration. He told crews he was feeling better at the scene.

He collapsed from cardiac arrest while crews were still at the scene.

Firefighters rushed Brocker to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay where he passed away.

Brocker is survived by his wife, Jill Fuss, a son and daughter and a granddaughter, according to his obituary.
