A fire police officer from the New Bridgeville Memorial Fire Company was struck Friday night.
The firefighter was directing traffic at a dangerous intersection in Chanceford Township around 6 p.m.
"It was bad tonight," New Bridgeville Memorial Fire Chief Ronnie Witmer told the York Daily Record.
The department did not identify the member, but said he is a longtime volunteer.
Witmer said responding firefighters saw that the fire police officer has been struck and stopped.
"He was conscious the whole way to the hospital," Witmer said.
Police were called in to investigate the crash.
