Man Charged with Biting AZ Firefighter

A Tucson crew was treating the man when he regained consciousness, pulled a knife and bit a firefighter.

Police arrested a man who allegedly bit a Tucson firefighter and the pulled a knife on the crew who was helping the man during a medical emergency.

Tucson firefighters found Humberto Rocha-Ortiz, 40, unconscious outside a home on Dec. 18 when they started medical treatment on him.

Rocha-Ortiz regained consciousness and began fighting with firefighters, according to AZCentral.com.

Police said Rocha-Ortiz bit a firefighter before he pulled a knife on firefighters and then chased them.

Firefighters were able to restrain the man after he fell while running away.

Two firefighters were hospitalized following the incident, the newspaper reported.

Rocha-Ortiz is facing charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with serious injury and two counts of aggravated assault on a firefighter.
