Houston Firefighter Stabbed in Eye During Rescue

Capt. Kenneth Willingham was trying to rescue the man from a Houston business when he was stabbed in the eye.

A Houston fire captain was seriously injured after he was stabbed in the eye by a man he attempting to rescue.

A police officer forced entry into the Highway 6 business on Friday morning where it was reported that a man was inside.

Capt. Kenneth Willingham was stabbed in the eye with a pocket knife by the man he was working to rescue, according to local television station KHOU.

Officials said Willingham, a 14-year member of the department, might lose his eye.

Police said it took 30 minutes to subdue the man, who stayed inside the building as firefighters brought the fire under control.

The unidentified 34-year-old man was taken to the hospital and later charged with First Degree Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant.
