A Hillsdale Township, MI, firefighter was uninjured after he rolled his personal vehicle responding to another crash with injuries.
According to the Hillsdale Daily News, Firefighter Nathaniel Wayne Rurka was headed to the accident, reportedly traveling at about 40 mph when his vehicle suffered mechanical failure. Rurka’s vehicle, which had its siren and lights operating, traveled across the center lane and rolled over, the newspaper reported.
Fellow firefighters responded to the first accident and a second engine responded to Rurka’s crash site.
Rurka climbed out a window in his vehicle and reported no injuries, according to the paper.
The victim of the first crash, a 17-year-old female, rolled her vehicle and suffered minor cuts, the paper reported.
A third crash occurred just west of Rurka’s crash site while units were standing by waiting for a wrecker, according to the paper, which also reported wet, snow and slush covered roads existed in the area after a winter storm.
