Two firefighters responding to a crash scene on Saturday in Kenton had a gun pulled on them.
After checking on an occupant in an overturned vehicle, a witness told the Gibson County fire chief that there was a a bag of drugs in the street.
As the chief moved toward the drugs, Jerry Yarbrough exited the second vehicle and struck the chief in the head with a pistol, Gibson County Sheriff Paul Thomas told The Jackson Sun.
When a second fire chief arrived, they witnessed Yarbrough yelling and pointing the gun at the chief, according to Gibson County Fire Chief Bryan Cathey.
Cathey said they were able to talk Yarbrough into putting the gun down before he was arrested.
Yarbrough, 49, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
The chief was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
