OH Firefighter Returns to Work After Being Shot

March 21, 2017
Youngstown Fire Lt. Paul Lutton was shot in the leg in December as crews left a house fire scene.

A Youngstown firefighter returned to work Monday, three months after he was shot while driving an apparatus.

Police have been unable to find any DNA on the shell casings from the Dec. 5 shooting that left Lt. Paul Lutton with a wound to the leg, according to WFMJ.com

Lutton was behind the wheel of an apparatus that was clearing the scene of a house fire where Cameron Dyer argued with firefighters.

Lutton suffered a shrapnel wound to his leg and another firefighters's turnout coat was grazed by a bullet.

Police suspected the Dyer was the shooter, but without the DNA on the casings they are unable to move forward.

Dyer, who is currently serving a prison sentence for drug possession, will back in court next week for arguing with the firefighters before the shooting.

Youngstown police say the case remains under investigation.
