Another California firefighter tested positive for the coronavirus, adding to the number of infected firefighters in the state.
The latest firefighter confirmed case involves a member of the North County Fire Protection, which serves the norther region of San Diego County. Officials were alerted to the firefighter's positive test Saturday, the district stated in an online update Sunday.
"The employee was asymptomatic while he was at work, but developed a fever at home and was tested for COVID-19. … The employee is currently quarantined at home and all the guidelines have been followed per the (Centers for Disease Control)," the district stated. "We will be contacting every patient this employee has made contact with on his shift as a precaution.

Because he was asymptomatic at work, the firefighter is considered a "very low risk" to the public, the department added.
Last week, eight San Jose firefighters tested positive for the coronavirus, the department confirmed Friday. Those confirmed cases led to nearly 80 firefighters being quarantined.
