Veteran Chicago Paramedic Succumbs to COVID-19

The Chicago Fire Department announced Thursday that paramedic Robert Truevillian, who was PIC for Ambulance 71, died after contracting the virus.

The Chicago Fire Department is in mourning after a veteran paramedic became its third active duty member to die from COVID-19 complications.

The CFD announced via social media on Thursday that PIC Robert Truevillian had died after contracting and batting the virus. Truevillian, who was Paramedic in Charge for the department's Ambulance 17 unit, had been with CFD since 2000.

A GoFundMe page was started on Dec. 9 while Truevillian was in intensive care at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn and had raised nearly $28,000 for his family as of Friday afternoon.
