A man accused of running down a Georgia firefighter and fleeing the scene last month was arrested Wednesday.
The hit-and-run incident happened at around 5 p.m. Feb. 17 as the firefighter was directing traffic near Belvedere Park, DeKalb County police stated in an online update. While the firefighter was working, he was struck by a black Mercedes-Benz, which sped off following the accident.
The firefighter survived the accident, and police began searching for a driver, who was caught on camera. Once the image was released by police Wednesday, the man was identified and arrested within hours.
The name of the driver was not released, and no details were given about the arrest or how he was located.
