A Florida firefighter is in intensive care after recently contracting COVID-19.

Hernando County firefighter-paramedic Kevin Harris was admitted to the ICU and intubated after he tested positive for the virus in late May, according to a GoFundMe campaign started for the first responder. Since then, he has suffered from a stroke, blood clots and neurological emergencies.

Despite the setbacks, Harris' medical team remains hopeful. He was recently extubated, but he still remains in the ICU and continues to face neurological challenges. When Harris is ready, however, his doctors hope to move him to a rehabilitation facility to continue his recovery.

Harris has served with Hernando County Fire & Emergency Services for two decades. He has a wife and two sons.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with medical bills from his treatment and recovery. So far, it has raised more than $7,500 of its $20,000 goal.
