Woman Attempts to Stab New Brunswick, NJ, Firefighter and Police Officer

July 13, 2025
When New Brunswick firefighters were called to a home to help a woman, she lunged at them with a knife.

A New Brunswick police officer and a city firefighter narrowly escaped injury Thursday after a woman lunged at them with a knife at a residence on Harvey Street, authorities said.

Police responded around 12:30 p.m. to a report of a resident in crisis. The woman was uncooperative and attempted to stab the police officer and the firefighter, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office said.

The woman then barricaded herself inside the residence on Harvey Street. The Middlesex County Special Operations Team was called in to de-escalate the situation, and the woman eventually surrendered.

The woman, whose identity is being withheld, was taken into custody and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, the prosecutor’s office said.

It is not clear whether the woman remained behind bars on Saturday. Neither the New Brunswick nor the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office responded to a request for more information.

Anyone with information is asked to call New Brunswick officer Daniel Williams at 732-745-5200 or Lt. Greg Morris at the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-4054.
