UTV Accident Leaves Five Firefighters Injured at Billy Fire in AZ

Five firefighters were hurt Friday during the Billy Fire in the Tonto National Forest, which has been burning for a month.

Five firefighters were injured Friday as they worked the Billy Fire in the Tonto National Forest.

Officials said the firefighters were hurt when they were involved in a UTV crash around 2 p.m. on Forest Service Road 487, 15 miles south of Young in Gila County.

The firefighters were flown to the hospital for treatment, according to AZFamily.com.

Friday night, officials said, the firefighters has been treated and released.

Lightning started the fire on July 9 and it has burned over 6,100 acres. 

As of Saturday night, InciWeb reports that the fire was at 27 percent containment.

Current resources include 25 engines, six water tenders, one dozer, three helicopters and nine medical crews with nearly 400 firefighters and responders.
