Man Arrested after Spitting on Burlington, VT, Firefighter and Leading Police on Chase

Police charged the man who blocked a fire apparatus with his vehicle and got aggressive with Burlington firefighters.

A firefighter was spit by a man who tried to block their fire apparatus after they were called Friday night to a medical call in Burlington. The man was later arrested after a police chase.

Firefighters were called to the downtown Burlington intersection of College and Church Streets about 6:30 and that's when Daniel Jaffe-Suggs began acting aggressive toward firefighters. 

Police told WCAX.com that Jaffe-Suggs used his car to block their fire apparatus. 

The 46-year-old from Wellfleet, MA, yelled at the fire crew and then spat on one firefighter.

When police arrived, Jaffe-Suggs confronted the officers, got into his car, and drove off. 

He drove down a pedestrian-only road at one point, which promoted police disable a tire on the vehicle. He then took off, leading police on a chase through downtown Burlington and then on to the interstate until a rim came off his car.

Police arrested Jaffe-Suggs, charging him with assault with bodily fluids, assault with bodily fluids, disorderly conduct, and grossly negligent operation.
