All four firefighters injured responding to a house fire in northwest Roanoke last week have been discharged from the hospital as of Tuesday.

Roanoke Fire-EMS gave the update in a Facebook post, adding that the firefighters are continuing their recovery at home.

"We are grateful for the members of our community and firehouse family that continue to check in and show support for our team," the department said.

The firefighters and an occupant were injured Thursday morning as crews responded to a house fire in the 2700 block of Courtland Road Northwest.

As firefighters entered the basement and located the fire, the injured occupant was rescued from a first-floor window and taken to a hospital. Two additional victims were treated at the scene.

Firefighters inside the structure issued a mayday after they were unable to evacuate. Other crews responded and were able to get everyone out. The fire's cause remains under investigation.

"Fireground Operations are more complex in the icy conditions," Roanoke Fire-EMS Chief David Hoback said Thursday. "Pulling hose, making entry, connecting to the hydrant is much more difficult when walking across ice. This is one of the things that we train for whether it is a rescue for a citizen or one of our own."
