Bargersville, IN, Lieutenant Hospitalized after Tree Branch Went Through an Open Window
While returning from a water rescue, a Bargersville lieutenant was struck in the chest by a stray tree branch that went through an open window on the apparatus.
A tree branch entered the open window of the fire apparatus, striking the lieutenant in the chest and causing injury.
While returning from a mutual aid water rescue, a Bargersville Community Fire Department lieutenant was struck in the chest by a tree branch that entered through an open officer-side window of the apparatus.
The crew was returning from Madison Township on Aug. 17 when they encountered a tree in the roadway near a roundabout, WTHR reports.
The lieutenant was struck in the chest by a branch that was extending into the roadway.
The firefighter was transported to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment.
According to the fire department, on Aug. 19, the lieutenant "underwent successful surgery yesterday and is recovering at an Indianapolis hospital with his family. His medical team reports that the procedure went well, and a full recovery is expected."
