Brew-Off Helps NC Firefighters Pay for Gear

A fundraiser by North Carolina breweries this weekend earned money to help firefighters pay for special equipment.

More than 20 Raleigh-area breweries participated in Saturday's brew-off, which raised around $5,000 for Wake County firefighters to pay for carcinogen-blocking hoods that guard against soot and smoke, WNCN-TV reports. This was the second year for the fundraiser sponsored by Love Is Bald, a North Carolina nonprofit that supports cancer-based groups.
