IN Firefighters Acquire Ballistic Safety Equipment

Firefighters with the Brownsburg Fire Authority will be better prepared to address violent calls with the addition of bulletproof vests and helmets.

As the current trend of violent acts committed against first responders increases, firefighters with the Brownsburg Fire Authority in Indiana will now be protected with bulletproof vests and Kevlar helmets while performing their duties.

In a proactive move, the department purchased the safety equipment last summer to protect Paramedics and Firefighters. In a Facebook post, Brownsburg firefighters stated that depending on the type of run or information communicated by HCCC, citizens may see them in the gear, though it will not be common.

With the recent purchase there is now a set of safety equipment for all personnel when responding to emergencies.
