Off-Duty Baltimore City FF Dies after Medical Issue

Andrew J. Douglas, who had been with the Baltimore City Fire Department for eight years, died after suffering an unexpected brain injury.

An off-duty Baltimore City firefighter died unexpectedly from a medical emergency, the department announced Monday.

 Andrew J. Douglas, 33, joined the department eight years ago, WJZ reports. Flags will be flown at half-staff at city fire stations until his funeral, which is being arranged by Douglas' family and the department.

According to WBAL-TV, Douglas died of an irreparable brain injury. He was assigned to Hampden's Engine 21.
