Four Pittsburgh Firefighters Hospitalized after Ladder Comes in Contact with Power Lines

Firefighters responding to a house fire in Pittsburgh's contacted live power lines and were sent to the hospital.

Four Pittsburgh firefighters were hospitalized after a ladder they were contacted power lines.

Firefighters were called to the house fire in the South Side Slopes neighborhood around 8:15 a.m. and found fire from the roof of the three-story building, according to a statement from Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire.

During firefighting operations, "four firefighters came into contact with an electrical current," the department shared.

"Four firefighters were transported to Mercy Hospital. They did come in contact - the ladder did come in contact with an electrical line. They are all stable condition right now," Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire Assistant Chief Matthew Davis told WTAE.

A second alarm was dispatched to the fire at 9 a.m. 

By 9:45, the fire was placed under control and firefighters contained the fire to the building of origin.

The department expected the members to be released from the hospital during the afternoon.

No other injuries were reported by the fire department and the fire was contained to the building of origin.
